STRINGING SPOOLS

STRINGING SPOOLS
Materials
empty spools, any size will do
yarn or cord
tempera paint and brush
shellac

Paint your spools bright colors. Use shellac to keep them shiny.
Decide whether you want to make a spool necklace or a spool belt. Cut a piece of yam or cord. Be sure it’s a little longer than the amount you need to go around your neck or waist, so you’ll have some extra for tying.
To keep the spools from sliding off, tie a large knot at one end of the yam. String the spools. When all the spools are on, tie the two yarn ends together.
For some unusual spool stringing, try using buttons or heads between the spools. You can also make colorful necklaces and belts by using buttons or beads or both.
