THE FACE
The corners of the mouth and the eyes turn up on a happy face and down on a sad face. Rig, round eyes give any face a look of surprise.
Draw a faint line around the head, halfway down from the top of it. On this line mark the two eyes with the pointed stick.
Shape a lump of clay for the nose and add it to the face, between the eyes and just below the line.

THE HEAD
Take a big lump of clay and knead it like dough to get rid of any air holes or soft spots. Roll it into a hall for the head.
Roll a smaller hall of clay for the neck. Stick it to the head. Smooth the clay where the two halls are stuck together so that the line between them does not show. Flatten the bottom of the neck so that the head will stand.
