Press a piece of clay into the shape you want the tiepin to be. Let the clay harden.
Glue a large paper clip to the back of the clay piece.
Decorate it with tempera paints. When the paint is dry, cover the tiepin with shellac.

hardening clay (there are several kinds, including powders that are mixed with water and clay that can be baked in your mother’s oven)
all-purpose glue
a large paper clip for tiepin
safety pins for pins and brooches
cord for pendants
shellac
